Having a wood shop teaching father was a great introduction to the craft of woodworking. As I got older I worked in a cabinet shop to help pay college expenses and did carpentry on home improvement projects. After retiring from teaching high school Math and Science, I hired on as a marine carpenter at a Shelter Island boat yard. Boat woodworking develops skills quickly. Upon retiring from the boat yard, I continued as a hobby woodworker, specializing in surfboards, boxes and puzzles and turning. Custom boxes are among my favorite projects.
